Brian, Ross and I thought about Brickyard 2.0 and came up with the most logical solution: shipping containers. Similar to Google’s “shipping container data centers“, the new Brickyard 2.0 could be modular, portable, and scalable to accommodate our growing and changing needs. Just like bricks they are stackable, sturdy, and practical. Plus, with an oversupply of containers clogging our ports, re-use is basically recycling.
Design inspiration would be no problem, as evidenced by these cargo and shipping container homes and offices (via weburbanist.com):
Will this actually happen? No, but it was a fun 5-minute conversation.
